Do you randomly develop a really bad itch every time Summer rolls around? You Google it and all that comes up is "Dry skin" or "heat rash," yet, you haven't been in the sun.

What could possibly be causing this outrageous itch that just won't go away? Yes, it may be heat rash or just dry skin. Or, it could be signs of something much worse.

Several things can cause an itch during the summer. The heat plays a major factor, especially in this dry climate we have in Idaho. So, it could be your environment or it could be something internal.

The heat and mosquitos aren't the only two things in Idaho that can cause an itch, however. There are many factors and variables that you need to consider before assuming it's just the heat.

If you have a very bad itch that won't go away after a long period of time, it's always a good idea to see a dermatologist. Same with if a rash develops that you can't explain. Never be afraid of visiting and consulting a doctor--it can save your life.

You don't want to hit the panic button every time you develop an itch, however. Having an itch doesn't mean it's time to see a doctor. Many different things can cause itches and rashes, some are perfectly safe, others may prove to be a concern that needs to be urgently addressed.

How can you tell the difference? You need to be aware of the signs and symptoms. The American Academy of Dermatology Association put together a wonderful list of things that can be causing your itch in the summer and how you can treat them and finally get that well-needed relief.

Here's what the AAD says to look out for and what may be causing your itch:

For more on what can be causing your itch check out the ADA website. As you can tell from the above list, if you're feeling concerned see a dermatologist.

They can properly diagnose what you have and supply proper treatments. Or, they can say it's nothing and stay out of the sun for a while! You won't know, if you don't go!

Once you get that itch taken care of and are able to enjoy the sun and the outdoors without worry, check out these amazing events happening this summer in Boise, itch free!
