The new Tractor Supply store in Shelby is holding a grand opening that began Thursday and wraps up Sunday. 

The celebration will include storewide sales and daily giveaways. 

“Homeowners, livestock and pet owners, gardeners, hobby farmers, ranchers, tradesmen and others rely on Tractor Supply for a wide assortment of products,” said Teresa Edmondson, manager of the Shelby Tractor Supply store. “We’re excited to call Shelby home and serve the community with the essentials you need to live life on your own terms. The new location, at 630 Earl Road, includes a 21,934-square-foot retail space and a 20,000-square-foot garden center. The project is valued at around $2.1 million, according to the city planning department. 

As the new location opens, the previous one in Shelby Plaza Shopping Center on East Dixon Boulevard will close. 

The store employs approximately 15 workers, most of them full time.  

The Garden Center at the Shelby store carries an assortment of annuals and perennials, shrubs and decorative plants, fruit trees, vegetables and herbs. The center also has pots and planters, fertilizer, soil and gardening hand tools. Other items like greenhouses, lawn tools and equipment, mowers and trimmers. 

The new store includes a pet washing area for pet owners that comes equipped with professional grade equipment and high-quality products. It has elevated wash bays, grooming tables, specialty shampoos, use of brushes, combs and towels as well as a waterproof apron and professional dryer for $9.99.

Shelby Tractor Supply will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
