Omori: 8 Best Weapons

Equip your little party in Omori with the best weapons to see them through this harrowing yet hilarious story.

Omocat's indie hit Omori is many things: an emotional exploration of guilt and trauma, a deeply disturbing psychological horror game, and an instant meme-generator for a generation of gamers who lurk in the weirder corners of the internet. But you know what else it is? A dang fine RPG!

Like any RPG worth its salt, Omori outfits its twisty tale with classically engaging turn-based battles, letting you arm your group of children with various strange weapons as they battle through hordes of bugs, vegetables, and anthropomorphic planets. But which weapons should you seek out for maximum power?

Hero is a foodie and a talented chef, so all of his weapons are themed after kitchen utensils — hence, his Blender weapon. This weapon gives Hero a solid Attack boost, but moreover, it adds 30 points onto Hero's Juice stat. Juice is Omori's equivalent of mana, so this boost allows Hero to use more special skills, which is extra useful, as Hero is your main healer.

The Blender is hidden in a smashable watermelon during a stressful chase sequence, making it one of the hardest weapons to actually find in the game. If you miss it while you're running from the monster that's on your tail, you won't be able to grab it later, so you'll have to move quickly in order to find this weapon.

The Cool Noodle is exactly what it sounds like: a basic pool noodle, but made cool... thanks to the addition of googly eyes. (Which make everything cooler, obviously.) This is one of Aubrey's most powerful weapons, giving her a massive boost to her Attack stat.

You can find the Cool Noodle in the Last Resort underwater casino, but you'll have to complete a short side quest. As you explore, you'll find your playground frenemy Berly, who's been drafted to work at the casino. Bribe her with bottled water, and she'll proceed to give you a quest, asking you to find a strong, pliable, and buoyant... something in order to make a weapon. Go find the Pool Noodle elsewhere in the resort, bring it back to Berly, and bam! The Cool Noodle is yours for the taking.

Kel, the resident athlete of the group, usually winds up with weapons that have to do with sports in some way. The Beach Ball is no exception, and it's one of the best weapons you can find for your goofy friend. The Beach Ball gives Kel a pretty sizeable Attack boost — and an even bigger boost to his Speed. This is extra-important, as one of Kel's special attacks does damage based on Kel's Speed stat. If you max this stat as far as you can, this turns Kel into an absolute monster.

You can find the Beach Ball in the Last Resort, but you won't have to worry about side-questing for it; it's hidden in a smashable watermelon at the entrance to the resort.

Ol' Reliable is one of the most charming weapons in the game; it's a particularly nice spatula belonging to Hero. It's easy to imagine the food-obsessed guy whipping out Ol' Reliable whenever it's time to grill up a burger or two. But it's not just on this list because it's a cute idea. No, Ol' Reliable earns its spot on this list because it's Hero's best weapon in the whole game, boosting his stats sky-high.

Ol' Reliable is only accessible on the alternate Hikikomori Route, which you access by refusing to leave Sunny's house in the real world. Making this choice locks you into the game's worst endings, but it also allows you to explore deeper in Sunny's imaginary Headspace realm; if you play your cards right, you can meet the mysterious Abbi, who dwells in the darkest parts of Sunny's psyche. If you defeat Abbi in battle but choose to spare her life, you can receive Ol' Reliable from one of her many tentacles.

In Faraway Town, the "real-life" segments of Omori, Kel is a lanky sixteen-year old who plays on the school basketball team. In Headspace, Kel is more of a snot-nosed brat, but he still loves a good game of hoops; after all, his ultimate weapon is the Basketball.

Like Ol' Reliable, Kel's Basketball is only accessible on the alternate Hikikomori Route after defeating Abbi and choosing to spare her life. Then you'll have to find the tentacle sticking out of the ground in the Vast Forest, one of the game's earliest areas; this tentacle will hand you the Basketball. This weapon provides an absurd stat boost, buffing Kel's Juice, Attack, Speed, and Luck stats. No one will stand a chance.

Aubrey, the party's resident tough girl, uses the game's most eclectic assortment of weapons: a mailbox, a bust of a popstar's head, a body pillow, and the aforementioned pool-noodle-with-googly-eyes all find a place in her arsenal. But her ultimate weapon is a little more straightforward, letting her put the beat down on fools with the Baseball Bat.

This weapon boosts Aubrey's Health, Attack, Speed, and Luck stats into the stratosphere. Like the other ultimate weapons, it's only accessible on the Hikikomori Route after defeating Abbi; from there, you'll get it from the tentacle peeking through the floor in the Neighbor's Room.

The Garden Shears are currently only accessible on the console version of Omori for a simple reason: they are Basil's only weapon, and Basil is only a playable character in the console-exclusive Boss Rush mode. To top all of that off, you can only play this mode on the alternate Hikikomori Route, and you can only use Basil — and by extension, the Garden Shears — after you attempt the Boss Rush mode at least once.

The Garden Shears share their stats with Omori's most powerful weapon, making it one of the strongest weapons in the whole game. Of course, playing through the Boss Rush mode with Basil might lead to some rather... disturbing battles, so maybe you're better off leaving them untouched.

The Red Knife is Omori's ultimate weapon, sharing its stats with the Garden Shears. The Red Knife boosts Omori's Attack, Defense, Speed, and Luck stats further than any of his other weapons, making it one of the most powerful items in the game.

Like the other ultimate weapons, the Red Knife is only accessible on the Hikikomori Route after sparing Abbi's life. From here, you'll have to return to the dungeon beneath Sweetheart's Castle and locate the secret room, which contains adorable pixelated skeletons and a lone tentacle poking out of the ground. Finding it gives you the satisfaction of giving an emotionally disturbed child a very powerful knife. Which... might not be the best idea.
